Ι What Are Magnetic Rotor Assemblies?
A rotor is the rotating part of an electric motor that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. In the magnet industry, rotors are commonly known as magnetic rotor assemblies, which are a type of advanced magnetic assembly. These assemblies typically consist of a rotating shaft, a core made from electrical steel or magnetic stainless steel, and permanent magnets.
The permanent magnets used in magnetic rotor assemblies, also called rotor magnets, include Neodymium magnets, Samarium Cobalt magnets, ferrite magnets, and bonded magnets. Rotor magnets usually come in rectangular, arc, or ring shapes.
Rotor magnets are generally mounted to the shaft or core, or embedded in the core, to create a stable magnetic field. This field interacts with the stator to generate rotational motion. Magnetic rotor assemblies often include balancing blocks and sleeves as needed for better performance.
