Polytetrafluoroethylene, also better known as PTFE or Teflon, is a synthetic fluoropolymer discovered by Roy Plunkett in an accident during researching new refrigerants and trying to find a new non-toxic substitute sulfur dioxide and ammonia. As a fluorocarbon-based polymer with multiple strong carbon-fluorine bonds, Teflon is highly resistant to various kinds of substances. Teflon is well known for its non-sticking characteristic which helps it widely used into pans and other cookware. In fact, Teflon coating can be also applied into containers and pipework for reactive or corrosive chemicals due to the strength of carbon-fluorine bonds. Just based on these properties, Teflon coated magnets are utilized by some special applications.
Advantages of Teflon Coated Magnets
- Non-stick performance.
- Low friction coefficient. The friction coefficient of Teflon coated magnets is less than 0.1 which only behind the diamond.
- Superior water-resistance.
- High temperature resistance which ensures it works continuously under both high and low temperature. It should be noted that its Max. Operating Temperature can achieve 260 degrees Celsius.
- Non-conducting.
- Chemical resistance, especially excellent acid and alkali resistance when free of pin hole.
