Ι What Is Anisotropic NdFeB Powder?
Bonded magnets are composites made from magnetic powder and polymer binders, where the permanent magnetic properties of the powder largely determine overall performance. In the bonded rare earth magnet market, anisotropic bonded Neodymium magnets account for less than 10%, while isotropic bonded Neodymium magnets represent more than 80%. Anisotropic NdFeB powder is specifically used to produce these anisotropic bonded Neodymium magnets.
Compared with sintered Neodymium magnets, which typically reach a (BH)max of around 35 MGOe, isotropic bonded Neodymium magnets with similar composition and cost offer a much lower energy product. Therefore, if we want to keep the advantages of bonded magnets—such as design flexibility, complex geometries, and ease of integration—anisotropic bonded Neodymium magnets are expected to help close this performance gap. It is important to note that anisotropic NdFeB powder is not suitable for producing sintered magnets.
