Ι What Are SmCo Disc Magnets?
Samarium Cobalt magnets, also referred to as SmCo magnets, were the first commercially viable rare earth permanent magnets. They offer a distinctive combination of high magnetic performance, exceptional temperature stability, and excellent corrosion resistance. These properties make them indispensable in many demanding applications where Neodymium magnets may lose performance or long-term reliability.
SmCo disc magnets are one of the most common shapes in this material family, featuring a flat, cylindrical form. They are typically specified by diameter and thickness, with the thickness always smaller than the diameter, and are available in a range of sizes and grades. Unlike Neodymium disc magnets, which are offered with many magnetization patterns, SmCo disc magnets are mainly magnetized axially, with only a smaller portion produced in diametrically magnetized versions.
